Diving in Lézardette
– Martinique (0-30m)
The spot is the starting point for two destinations, either the drop off to Pointe Lézarde, or a journey of discovery of thousands of fish in the maze of reefs.
What is the Lézardette in Martinique?
La Lézardette is the first site you come across when you leave the beach of Grande Anse d’Arlet and head to the left, at the foot of Morne Champagne. It precedes the Pointe Lézarde and the Colourful Cave.
What level to dive at the Lézardette?
Because of its location, the Lézardette dive spot is perfectly suited to snorkeling, baptism and all levels of the French and PADI diving schools. The most experienced divers can go on an adventure along the drop off. Beginners can have fun in the labyrinth of small rocks where the fish nest.
What can you see when you dive at the Lézardette?
At the anchorage of the Lézardette site, we overlook a rocky peak whose summit culminates at a depth of 4 metres. This is already an ideal place to make your first dive.
The Lézardette spot then offers two different routes.
If you head towards the Pointe de la Lézarde, you will be able to descend little by little to a depth of about 8 metres. We then reach a very nice drop off. Looking up, you can see a rocky promontory, a nicely concretioned cliff that you can take the time to admire before continuing towards the depths of the Pointe to a depth of 20 or 30 metres.
On the other hand, if you choose the direction of the Grande Anse beach, you will be able to meander like in a labyrinth, in the middle of rocky patates. This is a very pleasant playground to discover the animals and fish hidden under the rocks. Don’t hesitate to be patient and observant. The lobsters and the magnificent spotted sandpipers are yours for the taking. If you are lucky, you will even be able to see them at different stages of their evolution.
From here, you can also scan the Grande Anse grass bed for a green turtle grazing quietly (it has a round beak which differentiates it from the hawksbill turtle). It is also an ideal place to observe the famous surgeon fish which owe their name to the yellow stylet, cutting like a scalpel, present at the base of their tail. A nice little quiet and contemplative dive!

Our Alpha Plongée centre is located on the beach of Grande Anse d’Arlet, about 200m to the right of the pontoon, looking out to sea. We are in the middle of the pedestrian street that runs along the seafront, between the restaurants “Bidjoul” and “Les Arcades”.
If you decide to join us by car, you can park in the large car park which overlooks the road opposite the grocery shop. It is indicated by a large blue sign. To find us, you just have to cross the road and slip between two rows of houses.
