Diving at Fortune Cove
– Martinique (0-15m)

The Fortune Cove is a delight for beginner divers with its coral plateau and small canyons accessible between 2 and 12 metres deep. A unique landscape on the island of Martinique that will delight both first-time divers and those just starting their training.

What is Fortune Cove in Martinique?

Fortune Cove is located between the Whale Point site and Cape Solomon, near Grande Anse.

Fortune Cove is only accessible by sea, even though the path that leaves Grande Anse to reach Anse Dufour, passing by the old batteries of Cape Salomon, passes nearby. This situation makes it a privileged and preserved site.

The formation of small canyons makes it possible to sneak in and discover the fixed fauna that populates the site: anemones, corals and other sponges.

What level to dive at Fortune Cove?

Fortune Cove is accessible whatever your level of diving, be it PADI or Ecole de Plongée Française (EPF). The site is ideal for a first dive and is also very suitable for snorkelling.

What can you see while diving at Fortune Cove?

Fortune Cove is the ideal spot to observe cnidarians! But what are cnidarians? They are the family of animals that sting. And even if they are not at all similar from a morphological point of view, corals, anemones and jellyfish do belong to the same family of cnidarians.

The other fauna that swarms in Fortune Cove are the sponges and if you are lucky, you may find the small majestic seahorses. Indeed, seahorses cling to the sponges with their square tail (and not cylindrical like most animals). Another particularity of seahorses is that it is the male who fertilises the eggs, after the female has deposited them in her ventral pouch. And why not go in search of the sponge spider? It loves to hide inside yellow tubular sponges. Notice the bright colours: purple and blue, beautiful!

How to go diving at Fortune Cove?
